Above and Beyond

We received a referral on a patient who was being discharged to a hotel. The patient had wounds and other multiple co morbidities. Our wound nurse, Ronda Bowles went out to see the patient and admitted to home health services. We were informed the patient would have a friend who would assist with another needs such a food etc. During the visit, Ronda discovered the patient did not have the help as intended and the patient had no food to get through the weekend. Ronda went out and bought food and water for the patient to get through the weekend. She also stopped by the office, and the office staff donated whatever food snacks they had in their desks-crackers, cans of soup, bottled water. You did not have to ask the team twice to assist with this patient to meet his needs until our social worker could intervene and assist with other resources. Truly a definition of caring for the patient and helping their needs get met!
